Looking Back

A little over a year ago my best friend and love of my life returned home from his mission in Southern California! It was seriously the best day ever and I remember it perfectly. Nothing beats that feeling of finally being able to hug someone and talk to someone you haven't seen in two long years. So much happiness that day! I can't believe it's already been a little over a year since this happened! Time sure does fly!

Location Scouting and ONA Loving

As a photographer I am constantly scouting out new locations for shoots. Luckily for me, searching for spots has turned into a fun adventure activity for Tyler and I. There have been many times where "I think there is something just over this hill" has turned into a steep hike through mud. Tyler knows never to believe me when I say it'll only take 20 minutes, it always turns into a total exploration where-ever we go. Today we found a beautiful spot close to home with purple wildflowers and gorgeous trees. Totally worth the 15 bug bites I have all over my legs and arms.

And in other news… I GOT A NEW CAMERA BAG!!! I have been eyeing the Brooklyn Bag from ONA for well over a year now and I finally gave in and bought it after my old camera bag began to break. It's made out of genuine leather and is SO sturdy! It actually carries a lot more than I thought it would as well! It can carry up to 4 lenses and has two handy pockets, one in front and one in back. I love this bad because I think it fits well with my style and my brand as a photographer! I have quite the obsession with camera bags (I'll do a post someday about my favorites and why) but I couldn't rave more about this gorgeous bag from ONA! I am literally so in love!!

Our Wedding Video

I just realized that I never posted our wedding video on my blog! We absolutely adored our video of our wedding day! Kale Fitch did an incredible job at documenting everything. I'm a photographer but I also have an obsession with film and video! There's something about putting moments together with music that makes me heart happy! I've been trying to get better at my videography skills lately, but I still have a long way to go! In the meanwhile I'll just keep re-watching our video! Photographs and videos take you right back to the day and you remember all the happiness and joy you felt! Thanks Kale for the amazing video!

Sunvalley Idaho

Last week I had the chance to drive up to Sunvalley Idaho with Tyler and his family. Ty's family goes every year for his dad's bankers association convention so it's a fun opportunity for the family to relax and have some fun at the resort! This place is DARLING! All the buildings look like they jumped out of a European storybook and the breathtaking mountain views are amazing as well. I loved walking along the pathways with Tyler wandering into all the little shops including a cute candy shop where we got some of the best frozen yogurt ever! I didn't think things could get any cuter and then all of a sudden the bell tower starts chiming a tune from the sound of music!!! The atmosphere was amazing.

This little getaway was much needed and we had so much fun swimming, relaxing, ice skating, playing card games, bowling and we even rented a tandem bike and rode down to a nearby town. The best part of the trip was going on evening walks around the village with Tyler and listening to all the stories he had about coming here every year when he was younger. He was so excited to show me everything and his excitement made everything so much better and happy! Sunvalley is definitely a place to see!

Our First Place

So I finally got around to taking some photos of our first apartment! If you've ever lived the glorious, provo, college life you know that the apartments are seriously not the best. Most of the time they feel like a concrete box if you are on a budget like we are. After scavenging the ksl classified ads we came across this little place right across the street from the provo cemetery (really quiet neighbors is a plus obviously, even though our front yard is comprised of a graveyard). We made this apartment into our own little place that feels like home even though it has an infinite amount of issues for example, no air conditioning (kill me), no dishwasher, broken steps, heat that comes from the ceiling, two scary huge doberman dogs in the backyard, a broken kitchen sink faucet that sprays everywhere if you touch it the wrong way, and the toilet used to scream at us when you flushed it but we fixed that one ;)

We're still debating on whether we are going to be staying another year in this place or look elsewhere. But despite its issues, it is our own little place and has become a home filled with precious memories of our first few months of marriage that I will always cherish!

(my office is always a work in progress. I dream of the day I can have a real home office and decorate it in the style of my business. But until then, I'm going to keep experimenting with this fun little space!)
